Breeding For More Cream

Here is a good article that proves grass is the key.  This dairy farmer is using techniques "outside the box" to promote heavier cream in his dairy cows, along with genetics.  Apparently, there is a shortage of cream in America, due to the low fat lie.  Read more and go for the cream.

A Christmas Greeting

May the God of the universe, creator of all things, who is mighty, wonderful counselor, Prince of peace bless your day beyond understanding.  May He grant you peace in your heart and salvation through the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.  I urge you, if He is knocking at the door of your heart, open and let Him in.  Christ came to this earth to seek them that are lost, and He IS going to return-bank on it.  My prayer is for anyone that reads this humble blog and is lost in a world of sin, you would answer the call to your heart, repent and believe.  Merry Christmas.

Give A Man A Fish And He'll Eat For A Day. Teach A Man To Fish And He Will Eat For A Lifetime

Montana ranchers have sent a bunch of beef cattle to Russia in an effort to give the Russian cattle industry a boost.  I don't quite know what my opinion is on this.  I do wish we, in America, would worry more about our homeland and less of others.  I guess this is a good thing, maybe.  Read the linked article and judge for yourself.  Let me know your opinions and thoughts.

Do Gun Control Laws Really Make For A Safer Environment?

I found this to be very interesting.  It just proves that tough gun conrtol laws are not the answer the yuppies were looking for.  The city of Chicago has the toughest gun control laws in the nation, yet more police officers are killed by gunfire in Chicago than any other city in the USA.  Now, where do the bad guys get their guns from?  Would it be this bad if good guys had guns?  Read the linked article.

Neo-Organic

I recently came across the term neo-organic.  At the time, it was in the headline of an article that I did not have time to read.  Since then, I can't remember where I saw it.  I did a small bit of research to try and find the definition of this neo-term.  I have to admit that I did not spend a bunch of time doing this research as I had other things I was doing, which is nothing-neo.  So I am incredibly curious as to what, exactly, people mean by neo-organic.  If you have spent any time reading this humble blog, you will know that I am not a fan of all things organic.  I do think farmers should farm organically, naturally, let me be clear on that.  However, the USDuh organic label, to me, seems misleading as the USDuh (USDA) has proven itself inept at enforcing regulations.  How do you know when the object is truly organic?  Do you know the farmer/farm?  I think the whole thing is misleading.  So, on that note, can someone explain what is meant by neo-organic?  Is this a neo-improved version, or a neo-way of saying the same thing?  Fill me in.

Learning To Live Off The Land Will Help You Survive

I enjoy reading stories of those survivalist who make the leap into the unknown and live off the land.  I think it creates in me a longing, dreamy, wishful admiration and, perhaps, a bit of jealousy at that way of life.  One thing is certain, these are stories that can put an idea into our heads and give each of us that little bit of knowledge that may keep us, and our familes alive.  Check out the story of one man who lives in the wild, off the land, yet comes to civilization to teach those skills to others.  Let me know what you think.

An Apple That Doesn't Turn Brown After Slicing, The Latest In Genetic Engineering

Come on people!  Do we really need an apple that doesn't turn brown when sliced?  This is the latest in genetic engineering, coming out of Canada.  Are scientists just bored, or what?  The bottom line to all of this is the mighty dollar, these apples are purported to be cheaper to grow and will last longer after slicing.  My question is, why does man think he has to improve on everything?  Just cut your apple and eat it, done.  Am I just to old fashioned?  God made things perfect, don't mess with it-right?

Nurse Saves Washington's Army

I haven't found too much to share with you today in the way of relevant homesteading news, so I thought I'd share this little anecdote about the Revolution.  The little woman nurse was a true patriot, indeed.  Use the link and read the short story about how she saved Washington's army.
