I planted two hazelnu...I believe your plan is wise. I planted two hazelnut bushes and a blueberry bush last year. This year I planted a couple dwarf apple trees. I will also dig up some blackberry bushes from my wife's old home-place and move them here. I also think I'll pin down this year's growth on the raspberry plant under the walnut tree to see if they'll root and make new plants. Incidentally, if you're wondering what to grow under a walnut, the "three sisters" of the Native Americans will grow if the shade isn't too heavy.
