Hi y'all

Hello, and welcome to the Cedar Cove Farm blog page! In the near future we, my family, will be sharing thoughts, ideas, and events taking place here at Cedar Cove Farm. As a Christian family, we believe in our duty from God to be good stewards of the land and His creatures. We raise pastured poultry in their natural environment on grass, under the sun, which promotes excellent health benefits for the animals without the use of antibiotics, hormones, or any other "injectibles". We are also beginning to raise meat rabbits-and a few for the kids around Easter time. We have a small herd of Dexter cattle with a desire to produce all natural grass fed beef. We believe the smaller Dexter animal is the right size for a small farm and produces small cuts of beef that won't take up the whole freezer. We have several other "enterprises" in the works for our farm, which I will share about on another post. We direct market all of our products, (which is just butchered chickens and eggs right now), and have tremendous praise for the quality of our birds. Keep us in mind if you're interested in the best tastin' chicken you'll ever have, and look for me to post upcoming butcher dates starting in Spring of '08. We'll be expanding our egg production next year also, so keep an eye out for that, as well.

We are located in the beautiful Missouri Ozarks (Ozark County) where the winters are not so bad and the summers can be terribly hot. My wife is a stay at home mommy and homeschooler of our two beautiful daughters. Pam, my wife, loves to talk homeschooling with other mommies, so, if you're interested, please feel free to share experiences and ideas with her. She is also big into herbs and herbal/natural remedies.

From time to time, I may even indulge myself and stand on a soapbox or two. (I carry a few around with me, for emergencies.) I love to talk Scripture and Theology. "Iron sharpeneth iron". So if you'd like to talk with me, feel free.

The bulk of this blog, however, will be devoted to our farm. We are always interested in hearing ideas and new ways of doing things. As I stated before, we raise our animals the way God intended, all antural.

One more thing. We have just become a Fertrell dealer. Fertrell offers all natural and organic (OMRI approved) feed suppliments and fertilizers to better strengthen the land and animals, thereby passing their good health on to us humans when we consume them. (It is amazing what trace minerals do for our bodies and the animals and how much it is currently lacking!) If you're interested in learning more about Fertrell, please email us at sppowers@iglide.net, and we will be happy to talk to you about it.

Until next time, may the the Lord bless you and Keep you, may His light shine upon you...

oops, lost my comment. Let me retry.

Hi Scott,

Welcome to the world of blogging!

Question for you if you don't mind regarding your comment: "... and the summers can be terribly hot."

Lord willing, someday we'll relocate to the Springfield area. Just how uncomfortable are the summers?
