Spiritual Spanking

OK men, it is time for you to share. I am studying Titus 2 manhood to teach at our church's Men's Meeting. Thus far, I am faced with the very real realization tht, as a man-the head of my household, the teacher in my home, as a husband, I come up a bit short.

I am interested in what you men out there might have to say on the subject of biblical manhood. What do you feel you do right, in your home? What shorfalls do you have? I am being hit with the idea of Christ loving the church (His bride) and husbands are called to love their wives the same. Christ gave ALL of Himself for His bride. I have to ask myself, do I give ALL of myself for my bride? What does this mean, exactly?

So, do you have any insight fo me? Let me know.

well let's see. Shortfalls -Check
hardships- Check
bad decisions- Check
unloving spirit- Check

no to be honest is what you said. the short fall is not having the "...as Christ loved the Church" in focus like Jesus did at all times. Taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.
give all to me would mean this. Do i do the things that i know will make my wife's life complete. Little things show her i am paying attention to her. She feels wanted and there for complete. Big things, She feels centered on. She can see the focus of my thoughts and affections are on her. Then she will be able to do what Eph 5:33 tells her to do. Reverence you. Not respect, but reverence.

Attentiveness. We talked about that in discipleship last Monday. I lack in attentiveness. I've found myself being so easily distracted from what my wife is trying to say. Here she is trying to connect with her husband and I get distracted by the sounds the tires are making on the highway and miss 5 minutes of her sharing her heart with me. How would we feel if that was how Christ treated us.
