A Bee-utiful Adventure

I am kind of excited about this.  Yesterday I went to town and bought the lumber and hardware I need to build a top bar bee hive.  No, I don't have a "thing" for pain and stings, but my family and I do want some delicious honey, not to mention the idea of helping the ailing bee population and our garden.  Our nephew keeps a hive here on our property, but we would like to have our own.  Tell me your experiences with keeping bees, what have you learned?

Well, I don't have any experience in beekeeping, although it is one of those things on the "To Do" list! We're also looking at the top bar hive as it seems easier and more natural for the bees.

We had a bee tree on the back of the property but they disappeared a few years ago :(

The past few years I've been encouraging the clover to grow in the front as opposed to grass just to give the bees something to snack on around here.

Would be very interested in seeing how your hive building goes!

Did you guys make it through the storm unscathed? Hope all is well.

We made it through, Carolyn, thanks for asking. Branson didn't fair so well, but that storm came right at us.

I am the first to admit that I am not the world's greatest blogger, but I will try to keep you updated on the bee hive. I plan to put some time into it this weekend. Time is quite the commodity these days. Stay in touch, I love to hear from you.
