To Bee, Or Not To Bee, The Top Bar Bee Hive

My kids and I put the first coat of paint on our new top bar bee hive last night.  Tonight we will put on a second coat, then it should be done.  I have to check around and make sure it isn't too late to put bees in it this year before doing so.  One thins is sure, I am not going to build another one of these types again.  Don't get me wrong, I like the idea of the top bar system for various reasons.  It is the design of this particular one that I paid to have the plans for, a total pain in the butt.  Next itme, it will be one of these, a Kenya top bar hive.  The Kenya design seems inifinately more simple than the over-thought design I built.  Just glad this one is about done.
