Here is a picture of the chicken tractor with the treated lumber box on the bottom. This is befor the wire is added.




This is a view of how I attached the pipe to the wood. I simply used plumber's tape and screws. This part of the process is under development. In other words, I am serching for a better way.

A friend of mine has a lot of experience with the chicken tractor. His latest version and my favorite so far, the one that I'll be making up this spring for some friers, is to take 8' lengths of rigid conduit he bought at lowes and bend them around a large house propane tank or small silo to form a semi circle. He then brazes them to longer lengths that act as a base. You can buy or even make small roosting boxes to hang from the wire netting or the bent conduit. I know it may be hard to imagine, but it really is the best looking and lightest version I've seen yet, plus when it comes to convincing my wife of the tractor looks matter.
