My family and I just finished watching the Gene Kelly movie, An American in Paris, which was very entertaining, if oyu can stomach 20 minutes of artsy ballet at the end. The movie wasn't all that bad, apparently it won a bunch of Academy Awards in 1951, so sombody thought it was good. There was one sequence in the film that really caught my attention involving the actor pianist, Oscar Levant. I was impressed, the man could play the piano. So, I looked Oscar up on Wikipedia to see if I could learn more about him. Apparently, he was more well known for wisecracks than his musical talent. That being said, I think he was grossly underated as a pianist, the man was fabulous.

Here is one of his wisecracks that I enjoyed. I felt it was especially fitting, given the times we now find ourselves entering.

"The only difference between the Democrats and the Republicans is that the Democrats allow the poor to be corrupt, too." -Oscar Levant

Although this is a wisecrack, I do feel it is rather true.
