I found this article to be very interesting. It would seem that there is always a price to pay when we try to go cheap. In this case, feed lots have gone to cheap feed in the form of distillers grain. Inexpensive, indeed, however, there seem to be early indications of a rise in E. Coli bacteria found in the fecies of beef cattle.

No big deal, you might say. True, it might not be, but, there has been a rise in the number of rejected beef this year compared to last year, due to the E. Coli bacteria. There has also been a rise in the reported cases of illnesses caused by contaminated beef. A couple of universities have done some studies and they think there may be a link between the E. Coli and distillers grain.
