Milk Comes From The Grocery Store, Right?

I remember watching Jay Leno a long time ago, asking stupid questions out on the streets of New York.  This particular time they asked people where milk comes from.  The vast majority of everyday people questioned said the same thing-the grocery store.  It might be said that is the case for many Americans.  You and I know that milk comes from cows on a farm-somewhere.  But what is more interesting, is that more and more people are beginning to see that as they pursue a healthier diet and lifestyle.  It is no longer enough to buy their milk from the store, they want to know the farmer that produced it.  What's more is that they are now seeing the benefits of raw milk.  It is becoming apparent in the eyes of many Americans that the "real deal", strait from the cow is heathier.  There are all kinds of  key enzymes and fat in raw milk that your body needs and folks want that.  The demand is rising, if your goal is to be self sufficient, get a cow.  If you want to make a bit of extra money from your homestead, get a cow.

Not that I want to be the ever-pessimist, but if you do plan on selling milk from your cow / farm, check into your state laws regarding milk (raw or pasteurized) sales. The State, Feds and event the local wahoos who like to play Big Brother can make your life a living nightmare if you're caught breaking "the law".

I'm not sure what the laws are in MO, but in AR we are "allowed" to sell up to 100 gals (I think) of goat milk per month without any Big Brother "intervention".

How nice of them to grace us with such "rights", hugh? (said with a sneer & almost bit my tongue off).

Good points, Carolyn, I guess I took it for granted. Yes, do check your local laws. I know someone, personally, that has been drug through the ringer. Although, maybe it is time for a little civil disobedience.

I went back & read my first comment & am actually a bit sad that I wrote it. Not because it isn't factual, but because I felt compelled to "warn" others.....when in fact I would be one of the first to say "Come and get it" to any govt. busybody telling me I couldn't grow or produce perfectly healthy food & sell it to a willing consumer.

And you are absolutely correct, it is time (past) for a little civil disobedience.

If everyone had a cow / goat for milking OR bought their milk from their neighbor with the cow / goat, they couldn't put us all in "Milk Jail". They make an example out of a few & the rest of us cower & submit to the ignorant thugs.

Civil Disobedience act for the week....DRINK LOCAL / RAW MILK!
