Federal Judge Upholds The Constitution
They say that the rights you don't use are the ones you lose. I'm glad this gentleman stood up for his. A county sherrif denied a CCW permit to a man because of his political leanings-the gentleman sued and won. Kudos to the federal judge! Use the link to read more.

Too bad that the Sheriff wasn't fired over this, it was in his job description to uphold the Constitution, yet he knowlingly failed to do so. People in the private sector are fired for failing to do their jobs, so why not him? Although I do like the fact that the judge ordered him to take those classes; doubtful he'll take any of those lessons to heart.
It's about time!
A federal judge upholding the US Constitution? Wow! Who would have thought?! And the icing on the cake is requiring the Sheriff to take a college level course on the Constitution! Nice touch Judge Bennett!
More than that, because of this man and others, the law got changed and Iowa is now a "shall issue" state, so county Sheriffs no longer have the ability to deny requests for permits except in several well-defined circumstances. There were some counties where the Sheriff just simply would not issue permits at all.
It really was a good call, wasn't it? There seem to be a few that yet care about the Constitution.
